Opportunities for Iranian citizens and investors in Serbia

Author: Law office Vuk Vučković

Iran and Serbia established direct flights between Belgrade and Tehran after 27 years in a sign of improved ties between Iran and Serbia.

The two countries had close ties until the early 1990’s when Serbia was a part of former Yugoslavia. Now, as Belgrade seeks to boost tourism and improve growth, it is reaching out to non-European markets to attract visitors from countries such as Iran, which Belgrade also sees as a target for agricultural exports, and Turkey.

Serbia introduced a visa free travel regime with Iran last August, which can be seen as a big opportunity for establishing companies of Iranian citizens and getting resident and work permits in Serbia. As Serbia has good relations for trade with neighboring countries (CEFTA) as well as EU countries but also with Russia, China and Turkey, Iranian investors should take advantage of it.
